TO RAISE UP ADVOCATES FOR YOUR NONPROFIT, YOU’LL NEED TO DO THE FOLLOWING:

Number 1

DEFINE THE ISSUE

What is your nonprofit’s purpose? Are you solving a problem, raising awareness about an issue, providing relief to those in need? You want to educate your supports on what the issue is.

SHARE YOUR MISSION

Share what your nonprofit specifically does and why you do it. Perhaps address how you came into existence. Tell people the back-story of why you do what you do. For example, if you are a church, are you trying to provide hope, enrich your community, equip church members?

EXPLAIN HOW TO BE AN ADVOCATE

Describe the type of person that could advocate for your nonprofit. Allow people to relate to the need on a personal level. Give examples of what current advocates are doing. Express your need for their help and what they can get out of being an advocate. For example, “Whatever your gifts are, you can be used by God to change the life of a child in need.”

PROVIDE WAYS FOR AN ADVOCATE TO HELP
